Hartlaw Limousins

Hartlaw Limousins began life as Carnkirk Limousins, named after the Antrim home where my interest in pedigree Limousins began.

After foot and mouth in 2001 I decided on a new start under the Hartlaw Limousins prefix.
During the last 8 years I have rebuilt my herd by buying in embryos from top French herds, using leading sires for AI and importing selected females from France.

I have now achieved a base line for the future – easy fleshed cattle showing natural muscle development.

Since establishing the Herd we have tested for Johnnes and selected our imported females from Johnnes-free herds. We have now joined the North West Livestock Programme which will provide us with professional advice to maintain a good health status for the Herd. We are in a 4-year TB testing zone, last tested April 2008.

Hartlaw Calendargirl

Hartlaw Calendargirl is just one example of the type of embryo calves I have been producing. Her full sister won the Haltcliffe Salver for best young heifer in the 2008 North West Herd Competition.

I have also been able to re-introduce the best sire from my Carnkirk herd. Carnkirk Hilton, who has done so well for Scotts of Thirwall Castle producing many fat stock champions including overall champion at the ILC in 2004 and Smithfield Champion 2008. He was a son Lennymore Apple, a Haltcliffe Pirate daughter, who was one of my first cows.
